Petrolia & Alvinston, ON – December 1, 2025 — Lambton County Developmental Services (LCDS) is excited to announce its Giving Tuesday campaign to fund a SofSURFACES cushioned patio at its Lovell Street residence in Alvinston. This project will create a safe, accessible outdoor space for residents who are prone to falls, allowing them to enjoy the outdoors with confidence and comfort.

SofSURFACES, a Petrolia-based company known for its commitment to safety and community impact, has kicked off the campaign with a generous collaboration and contribution. LCDS now seeks to raise $8,000 to bring this vision to life.

“Our residents love being outdoors, but the risk of falls can limit their time outside,” said Nick Salaris, Executive Director of LCDS. “Outdoor time means connection, joy, and well-being. For those who experience falls, this cushioned surface is more than a patio, it’s peace of mind. We’re deeply grateful to SofSURFACES for getting us off to a great start.”

The Lovell Street project will replace hard cement with a shock-absorbing, slip-resistant surface designed to reduce injury risk and expand safe outdoor time for residents, their families, and LCDS staff.

LCDS invites the Lambton County community to join this effort by donating on Giving Tuesday, December 2, 2025. The campaign will continue throughout the month of December. Every dollar makes a difference, one person at a time.

Donations can be made directly on our Donation Page or by calling 519-882-0933.

’Twas the Night Before Giving Tuesday

’Twas the night before Giving Tuesday in Lambton County,
Where kindness and care are always in bounty.
At LCDS, we dreamed of a safer new way,
For our Alvinston home residents to enjoy every day.

The cement was hard, the risk was real,
Ernest and Brian know how a fall can feel.
Rosie deserves peace of mind,
A cushioned new surface, safe and kind.

In Alvinston’s heart, where fields stretch wide,
And the Brooke-Alvinston-Inwood Centre stands with pride,
Where Killer Bees skate and mead still flows,
Community spirit has always glowed.

And thanks to SofSURFACES—a local business name,
We’ll change lives one person at a time, that’s our aim.

So, this Giving Tuesday, we ask you to share,
Your gift brings safety, comfort, and care.
