LCDS Awarded Petrolia Community Fund Grant
LCDS is proud to share that on Monday, February 9, during Petrolia City Council’s regular meeting, our social enterprise, the Olde Post Office Gift Shoppe, was awarded a Petrolia Community Fund Grant. LCDS Executive Director Nick Salaris attended the meeting to accept the grant on behalf of the organization, alongside several other community groups recognized for their contributions to the town.
This funding will support a meaningful enhancement to the Olde Post Office Gift Shoppe: new heritage‑style signage and storefront branding that will strengthen both visibility and community connection. The project includes:
- A traditional hanging heritage sign installed on Petrolia Line
- New vinyl window branding that highlights LCDS’s identity and our mission to Empower People with Developmental Disabilities
These updates will do more than refresh the storefront. The signage will serve as a public‑facing educational tool, helping residents and visitors understand the social impact of the shop and its role as a social enterprise supporting LCDS’s inclusive, community‑building work.
This small but meaningful capital improvement enhances downtown aesthetics, supports local economic activity, increases awareness of LCDS’s mission, and reinforces Petrolia’s heritage, all while strengthening a sustainable social enterprise that directly benefits people with developmental disabilities.
