The Annual LCDS Banquet was, as always, a celebration!!
This year’s festivities were held in Forest at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 176. The meal, catered by the Forest Legion Ladies Auxiliary, included delicious pies made by the Catholic Women’s League of Forest.
The Banquet Committee had asked for new contributors and ideas for this year’s event. Several people, from all corners of the county, volunteered their time and talents to greet guests, open the banquet with the welcome, set up, and decorate to make the evening enjoyable. A new highlight for this year’s celebration was a participative prayer song – it was very well rehearsed and performed with the audience partaking in the prayer responses and actions.
The banquet always has a theme. The Forest Community Connections’ participants and support team offered to assist the Banquet Committee by hosting and decorating. With this task came the responsibility of choosing the theme. After several conversations it was decided that ‘Carnival’ would be fun to explore. There were balloons, popcorn center pieces, handcrafted adornments and even a complimentary red clown nose upon your arrival!
As per tradition, there was a celebratory slide show which is the highlight of the evening every year, dancing to the sounds of Second Wind and door prizes!
Next year we will be celebrating the 60th Anniversary of LCDS – it is sure to be another great night to remember!
